    Default Steering problem

    I have a facelift Signum 1.9 CDTi [120] Design

I have noticed that the steering tends to pull to the side under low revs, or when I go over the 'crest' of the white lines. It feels a little bit like torque steer but it obviously isnt as it occurs at every stage of the rev range. I find that I'm having a little wrestle with the wheel as im driving a long.

I've only had it 4 days and bought it from a Vauxhall main dealer - should I get it checked out or is this normal on the hydroelectric power steering?

    Thanks for any input

I had the same problem, and like you I toyed with the idea of taking it back to the dealer. I noticed it more when going quite slow, or if the road had been repaired, it seemed to 'tramline'.

I was going to change the wheels for some alloys anyway, so I chose my tyres carefully to lessen the steering drift. The result was amazing, I hardly notice it at all thesedays - or have gotten use to it!

I think this is a characteristic of the Vectra C, and if you're new to the mark it is immediately unerving. Thanfully the car has many other good points to offet this defect.

Thats it exactly - its tramlning not torque steer! I knew I'd felt the sensation before but couldnt put my finger on it.

Thanks for the advice - anyone else care to chip in?

its more of a characterisitic of larger alloys - when ive had 18's and 19's its been and issue - currently running standard 17's and no issues at all

so what size wheels and what make of rubber is fitted

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

wheels are the standard ones that came with it - I think they're 17s. As for the rubber, I think they're Pirellis all round. I would go and have a look but its currently p*****g it down

    HI DM
BaCK TO THE DEALER AND GET IT REPORTED THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM THE SOONER YOU REPORT IT THE MORE PULL YOU WILL HAVE IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE.
I have had my Signum over 2 years and never had a steering moment,I use 17"

Took it back to the dealer this arvo and the technician took it out and said the car was just reacting to the camber of the road...but I'v enever felt a car tramline like this before...though the most modern car I've ever has was a V reg vectra, so I can't say Im that use to hydroelectric power sterring.

    Should I stop being paranoid?
