safeguard is alarm fault when you changed light did you use your sensors might be worth taking it back out to check connections safeguard will go after you set alarm and no fault is found.

Had EXACTLY the same problem today, took the sensors out to fit a microphone for my car kit into the vent part of that panel. When I put it all back, got the "Check Safeguard" error and nothing I could do would get rid of it. Stripped the entire thing down and continuity checked everything, double and triple checked every connection and could find nothing wrong with it.

Last resort I thought I'd force a reset of the system, disconnected the battery for half an hour and presto, no more error

By far the most common cause is the wires becoming disconnected near the rear view mirror / interior light unit, but a full reset (pulling the fuse in the rear fuse box) will do no harm.

I had the this error come up once which seemed to be because the sensors stopped working. (No apparent reason why!).

Disconnected the battery for a few minutes and there you go, sensors back working and message gone.
