    Default Vx "technicians"

I had a call yesterday to say that they had fitted the diesel fuel pump but needed a new tensioner for the pump drive belt. Not a problem as i did'nt need the car and wanted them to do the job properly and not rush things. I called in to see them as i was passing and the "technician" explained what he was doing.
I was a bit taken aback when he explained that this was the first one anyone there had done but it was OK as in his words "i've just done the course on these."

Oh well that's ok then my car is in safe hands.

He then explained that he needed to order a new tensioner as they should be fitted when changing the pump. If he knew this, why not order one at the same time as the pump or why does it not come with the pump

Picked my car up earlier after having the new fuel pump fitted and drove home. When i lifted the bonnet to refit the tuning box i had a quick shufty around to make sure everything was put back where it should be.
How pi$$ poor are these people nowadays. He had not reconnected the airbox feed pipe for the cold air from the front grille. To make matters worse, there is now a nice corner of my painted airbox with a bl00dy great chunk of paint missing and a long wide scratch where he has dropped the airbox lid.

Needless to say i will be having a word or 2 in the morning

    Rant over

Watched a vx teci trying to put some oil in my vec today, spilt it all over the top of engine then ran his gruby hands down window. No wonder they cant find an oil leak that they have been looking for for nearly a year!

Do your head in don't they Tony?

All you want is for it to be treated with respect & care.

As for the "I've done the course on these" great, that fills you with confidence, especially when they forget to order the tensioner.

The first thing you do when you approach any job is check that you have everything.

The other one that drives you nuts is if you take it in for a fault & they say " We couldn't find anything wrong with it"

Look harder then, I'm not going to waste my time bringing the car in for fun!

    Hopeless!

sorry to hear about the damage to the airbox Tony - how is car running now though? is the INITIAL problem all fixed, now you've just gotta deal with the aggro of going back and giving them a piece of your mind.

hope you get it sorted mate - i didn't get anything out of the dealership who scratched my steering wheel (TWICE!!) when it went in for the tyre swap.

I know all about the parts fiasco.... they kept my car in for TWO days... I went to collect it on the last day to be told "We couldn't fix the exhaust problem because the parts aren't in stock anywhere"

I was like "wtf? - You mean you kept it for TWO DAYS and didn't even PRE-ORDER the parts"......??????

    Simple answer... "Nope. Sorry."

And as for monkeys getting the car covered in $h17... yeah, they got oil over the seats of my last signum (managed to clean it a bit) some marks round the windscreen pillar and roof lining and also p1ssed about with the radio..... gits....

And they don't like it when I insist on being there to watch the servicing being done.. oh no.. not at all..... so I just laugh and say "Look, Renault make ****e cars, but at least they allowed me to watch what was going on - and TELL me if there were any problems" - when I had my Megane II and Laguna (no problems with them actually which is odd)

    Update,
Phoned the dealers today and was appologised to unreservedly by the nice bloke on the service desk. He said that all cars in their care should be treated with respect. He promised to take it up with the service manager and somebody would get back to me by the end of the day.

Within 10 minutes the "technician" himself rang to appologise. He explained that he had "forgot" to refit the airbox drain hose so had to remove the airbox to refit it. When he refitted the airbox he then "forgot" to refit the air supply pipe In his haste to finish the job he caught the lid on the front cross panel and dragged the paint off
He was nearly begging me to forgive him as i laid it on a bit thick about it being a "show car" (which at the end of the day it is to me)

He has offered me a full valet and it is going in on Saturday morning. I then had another call from the nice bloke on service reception to see if it had been sorted to my satisfaction.

In summary, i was very pi$$ed off with some of the work done by an individual but cannot really fault the dealer and their handling of it
