Cam-Chain Change 2.2???

Hi All,

What mileage should they be changed at?

When it’s been done with the upgraded kit how often should it be done?

Anyone know the best place to get the kit from and cost?

Going to have a look at a 2.2sri tomorrow, its done 36.000 miles full SH from Vauxhall, of course the garage says it needn’t be done, but I trust all on here who say it should,

some say wen it starts to get noisey some say just after 60 odd k if its had regular oil changes it will poss last to 100k i think its all down to the more regular oil changes you give it the more chances of it lasting longer

Never heard a whimper out of mine, its close to 55k now on an 03 plate. But it also has a full vauxhall history and regular oil changes

was thinking if I have this car I would have to do it straight away?

are these the same engines as the 2.2 fitted in the Vec B?

Have you been happy with your 2.2 anything to look for tomorrow when I go to see the car?

All chains should last to at least 100k with gerular oil swaps.. a Mate of mine has just had his slip on him though, but done 115k..

mine jumped at 50k mate very common fault cost me £600 expensive job

Yes, and the MK4 Astra 2.2...

Well if your wanting to change it at 30 odd k, are you gonna do it again in another 30...

I'd leave it to be honest. But like any stories. should you not buy the 2.2 direct in case the pump goes, or the cdti and there stories...

Not wanting to change it if there is no need, thought it was a big issue on this engine, if I get it I don’t want to leave it till it’s too late,

whats the accepted mileage for it from people who have one?

I'll only change mine when it starts to faintly rattle on a morning... Untill then i'm not fussed...
