    Default HU Replacement to DAB

I actually quite like the VDO CDR 2005, but I can't stand most radio stations - either dj's with an opinion about everything and feel they simply have to share it with everyone, or housewives 'valium fm' - aka local radio.

So, can anyone tell me the best DAB head unit to fit please?
Bearing in mind I would like the steering wheel controls and info display to still function and have a budget of £150ish

    Car is a 53 plate 2.2DTi SRi.

    TIA!

They didn't do a half can DAB unit only option is to upgrade to full can CD40 with DAB and for this you will need to alter and add wires plus roof aerial, airbag,CIM,steering wheel or you could get a PURE DIGITAL Pure Highway DAB radio in car adaptor

    Oh ******!
The Highway has good reviews, but it's not really for me as it's more clutter.

    Cheers anyhow Mr. Mac!

If I remember rightly, you shouldn't need to change the air-bag and CIM.
Although, it may be easier for the wheel mounted controls, to get a complete "Full CAN" steering wheel with scroller controls and airbag to fit.

The CIM is programmable for --- no-controls on the wheel, switches on the stalk, scroller controls (for CDC40) and just the buttons.
I have a 53 plate CIM running and programmed to operate a 2005 CD70 and scroller controls - on my Cavalier

The difficulty with the DAB install, is getting all the OEM parts, and the connectors with looms.
    You would require: -
    1) CDC40 Head Unit
    2) GID Screen that is compatible with the CDC40
    3) An OEM DAB Box
    4) Make up the communication / power loom to run between the DAB box and the head-unit
    5) The aerial link cable to run between DAB box and head-unit
    6) The correct drivers foot-well to roof aerial loom
    7) The correct DAB Aerial
    8) If you have ECC, then you will need to fit a full CAN ECC control panel
    9) Tech 2 programming to get everything to communicate and pair up.
    10) Re-arrange the wiring loom pin-out for the display
    11) SOT or ISO2CAR conversion loom to convert from ISO to Quadlock head-unit connection.

I have heard of a CDC40 being fitted to a half CAN Vectra-C, however I have heard of NO success stories of the complete DAB box installation.

It is physically and electronically possible, just a pig to do, due to the lack of parts availability.
