Default Jaguar Jet car - me want...

Yes, you read the title right. Jaguar have made a concept car powered by jet turbines and batteries. This is nothing new in concept form, as Rover tried the same thing in the 50's:

However, fuel consumption proved a bit of a problem... This design is still in use, however, as it was used as the Auxiliary Power Unit for the Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft recently retired from the RAF...

They've also been used in trains before, again by a British design team back in the late 70's:

And now Jaguar have developed a battery powered, 970bhp jet engine powered car...

That's interesting, in that it uses the gas turbines to charge the batteries. I remember reading about the Rover effort. The turbine spooled up so slowly that you had to brake into a bend with your foot on the gas to get the revs up to accelerate out again!
Hope it's as good as they say and not another XJ-220......

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

The gas turbine is mainly an Auxilliary Power Unit, and the car is an electric. The APU charges the batteries when using the vehicle for longer than the battery capacity range. Although they can produce electricity to power the hub motors directly.

We have just acquired a stake in Bladon Jets - wonder why?
