Default DMF - where can I buy a genuine one from?

    Folks,

My cousin nearly fell of his seat when I told him the cost of the flywheel.

So now, over to you guys, the champions.

Where can we buy a genuine product but cheaper than Vx?

So far I have manager to get a Vx price of £473.29 inc VAT for the DMF, and then one garage wants nearly £500.00 to fit it.

Also, would you recommend doing the clutch too? Its not slipping so dont really see the point myself.

    please.

Links, part numbers and manufacturers will help no end.

Have heard the names LUK and Sachs mentioned in a few threads but there are sooo many im LOST!

    Thanks in Advance!!

Had my DMF/Clutch replaced recently for only £640 by A1 Clutches at Tipton. This is very low and does make me wonder of work/component quality. But all OK so far (1500 miles). Parts fitted were Sachs/LUK and those removed were too. Also there are DMFs and complete kits on ebay that look OK and people from forum have had them fitted with no probs - I think cheapest DMF/Clutch kit is £430 e.g.

The Sachs one in ECP is £237.00 the clutch kit is £236.16 on top and all plus VAT

I would strongly recommend changing the clutch at the same time.

Deffo change the clutch m8, as a worn DMF will cause accelerated clutch wear.

It's not the end of the world. Mine has been rattling for 84k Although I am informed to get it changed immediately as it could be damaging the gearbox.

Would a second hand gearbox normally come with the flywheel and clutch?

I would just get the flywheel and clutch done m8 unless you are loosing gears - I would change the gearbox other than that leave it as it would money you don't need to spend.
