Arrow Egr semi blanking plate.what size hole?.

It has been such a beautiful day here,I decided to replace my old EGR valve with a brand new one I had purchased last week.As I wanted to semi blank it at its exhaust inlet,I made an oval plate out of tin,(just to get the optimum hole size right),and removed the old EGR and gave it a jolly good clean and refitted it after making an 8mm hole (as stated in recent threads),in the tin blanking plate just to make sure that everything was ok etc.Refitted everything and went out for a "test run".No problems,no lights no nothing.Everything was working fine loads of pull, especially down the low end etc, etc.
Now comes the problem.Replaced the tin blanking plate with a stainless steel one tightened everything up and went out for a run.Great no lights etc, etc, etc.
Drove around all afternoon everything great.Just been to fill up with diesel and the f*****g spanner light then EML has come on as I pulled into the drive!!!!.
Its to late now to start f*****g about with it so I will have to wait until tomorrow to increase the hole size but should I go up to 10mm or 12mm that is the question.
Because the plate is stainless steel,it means taking the valve off every time and I don't want to be p***ing about all morning.
What do you think,10 or 12mm. ???????.FELIXX.

How many holes did you drill 4 x 8mm seems to be the gig for the large blanking plate IIRC

Three holes in the oval gasket around 8mm-10mm, four in the square one around the same size!, not being funny but why all the hassle when the fiat ones are only a couple of quid ?. oval pic a bit feint but the link shows the square clearly. PS this oval is the new updated fiat gasket.

I have already spoken with the local Fiat dealer and they didn't have a clue.Anyhow,I am adding a breather/oil trap at weekend so I think I will open it up to 10mm and see what happens.I will let you know the results.Thank to you all,FELIXX.

If you quoted the part number for the Oval one you should have been fine, but they have to order it in.

:By the way,did you eventually decide which system to go with.I've ordered a Stainless Steel breather/oil separator and it should be with me by the weekend. It's a closed system and should just fit in around the oil filter crash box area.(I hope)!!.Was that one off eBay of any use to you?.FELIXX.
