    Default Shock query

hi people. its been a while since ive been on here and im ashamed to say thats its because of a problem with the car that i return.

the wectra had its MOT today and the tester failed it on front springs and shocks. now im looking at the recipts for the shocks and theyve been bought from TMS so i can only imagine there crap. also for some reson on the invoice there listed as Opal Vectra C Signum 1.8L shocks. now my car is a 2.2DTI. surly these can be the same for a 1.8 engine. my 2.2 diesel must weigh a tone in comparison to a 1.8.

please help as its my 8months pregnant wife who drives the vec and i dont want her driving around with the wrong parts on it.

    cheers. Darryl

Axel weights are posted inside the drivers door B pillar. Id have defiantly thought the 2.2DTi would have been a bit heavier than the 1.8 petrol...........
Best case the front end will be a bit bouncy, worse case scenario, front end will bottom out when going over speed bumps and could hole the sump, I'd get back and ask them to change them tbh.

Do a quick search on here or LMF, sure you'll find the info you need to take that back to them.

There are only two options for shocks, sports chassis and none sports. They are not engine/weight dependant

Springs are the only thing that depend on axle weight

cheers guys. i asked him why they fitted them and they said the first pair they ordered did say they were for the 2.2 but wouldnt fit properly. somthing to do with the steering wasnt right. so they returned them and went to tms and they gave them the numberplate and some other number and thats what they were given and now there fitted. the spring do say that there for the 2.2dti. now i have the problem of the back is lower than the front as the rear has bilstien shocks and apex lowered springs on it. looks weird. oh the joys. well seeing i dont realy drive it anymore. lol
