    Question 314mm caliper clips

why do the spring clips that clip around the front of my 314mm calipers keep pinging off? What is the actual reason for them.?

The spring clips that were on my old 302 calipers clipped into holes these seem to be crap, they are the correct ones..

The clips hold the pads in place mate. If you look on the pads, there should be a small recess in the middle of the pad springs (the metal bit with 3 prongs on it). On the caliper spring itself, there should be a small angular bit which sits inside this recess, preventing the spring from coming off the caliper.

Apologies for the Twin Audio thing BTW, my memory is rubbish... Do you still need the info mate...?

it seems my outer pads fromthe saab bloke have had their clips broken of, i have one, was wondering what it was for. Seems i will need to get another set of pads and drive without the spring clips on for a few days.

Mine went through it's MOT without one fitted when I couldn't get it to sit properly without taking the wheel off. If you have a spare pad it's only a ten minute job to remove the caliper and fit a new pad, but you'd really need to replace all 4 pads on the front at the same time to ensure even wear levels and equal braking...
