Rear Brake Pads

Is it only the ones with the butterfly spring that are available these days? Been having the rattling pad syndrome and went out and stretched the springs back as they were completely flat on both sides but by the time I got to the bottom of the street the rattling had started again, all be it not as badly. I remember that the original pads attached to the actual caliper.

On a separate note I had noticed when I did the rear brakes the rear slides were quite stiff even though they were cleaned out and the brakes were slightly grabbing when I came to a stop. Well I decided to remove the rubber slides runners from the caliper and noticed heavy corrosion build up under the rubber. Some 180 grit sand paper soon took care of that and with the rubbers refitted the slides now move so much more freely. First time I have ever seen this.

The pads were modified - all pads now have the spring clip and not the one that attaches to the caliper. Re the rattling - replace them with genuine GM pads and you won't have a problem!
