Default Tyres, a real life finding

Having read differing comments on this post and not wanting to further hijack it, I started this post

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=119233

I have a set of budget tyres on my SRi they are 17's. So? well they are DANGEROUS! thats the funny thing. I was always one for branded tyres when a company or lease company picked up the bill, but on my Vectra were 2 x Westlake SA-05 and two Minerva (Rotalla -F105) tyres

In the wet I cannot take bends on the road I need to use between home and Glasgow at more than 40mph, in the dry 70mph is easy meat and on my Saab wearing Neutons about 60mph in the wet will give you a feel for the severity of the cornering.

The Minerva / Rotalla has no grip and I can easily spin the wheels from a wet junction, the compound is the issue as the tread design of budget tyres may resemble that of a Dunlop or other premium tyre but the compound used is the key, there is no consistency

The others well OFFS!!!!! I have heard quieter jackhammer's these would drive you insane with the drone. I swapped them over front to rear to be sure and it is the damn tyres.

Now, back to the Minerva/ Rotalla, As said I put them on the back and do you know what??? I had a drift car the back end would step out at roundabout's corners in-fact any day that had a "Y in the spelling. So the moral here is if you are into sideways action, get these on your motor,,, NOT!!!!! I doubt even a drift star could find the traction point in these as I have searched now for about 4 1/2 months and since I first drove in the wet I have been really nervous of just how bad the car will behave!

It is embarrassing slowing for a bend that the bloke in the Micra behind you can take 30mph faster than your car, its just plain wrong!

I have had such a bad experience that apart from the Neuton's I had and adored on my Saab, I have gone back to branded tyres ( Bought a full set of Pirelli P7's this week in advance of wet and rainy Autumn coming)

You life depends on your tyres, if you want to risk it fine but what about the poor innocent shmo you take out with you if they fail on you?

Sorry but I felt compelled to offer a view on this.
