Default Help needed on hid kits

Got my friend to buy me a HID kit through ebay,

I dont have a clue who manufactured it, all i know that its a digital slim kit 8k 35w 9-18v

Basically what happened is i was drunk the first night i had them installed so couldnt test them out, when i did test them out i notice that there was a light bulb sign above my rev counter and said 'low beam' on the screen above my cd player ( do t know name of it sorry :| )

Switched lights on, they kicked in, lit for about a minute and died. Posted a thread bout it everyone saying i need a cancellor but didnt see why i needed one if my friends had the same kit and they didnt need one?

Eventually my friend who bought the kit for me, his lights started doing the same, swopped our ballasts round for eachothers, suprisingly they worked ( well one of them did for my car but was better then nothing!)

But my point being is i got pulled over twice in kne need last week for speeding, luckily they didnt catch my speed (doing 110mph on a 40 ) but pulled me over, then they saw my headlight was out and gave me a caution,

Been looking everywhere for a ballast the same as mine even tried calling the supplier who solt them to my friend but his phone switched off!

So i come on here to ask if it makes any difference if i bought a ballast with a higher/lower watts, or a ballast with a higher/lower voltage

Only option now as iv only got a week left for my caution and cant buy a new kit as the retard who fitted my kit in glued my bulbs in because he didnt have any clips for my lights!

110 in a 40 tut tut. I'd be ashamed. Any pack should be ok. It's only the bulbs that changed colour/ brightness. Just make sure it's a 35w again

Just put a normal bulb back in for the producer/caution, then have all the time in the world to fix the HiDs

I know i knoww but its a long dual carriAge way and just farm land on both sides of the carriage the road should be national speed limit!

But what your saying is the bulbs wont change colour or brightness if i bought a ballast with bigger voltage?

Have you actually checked the ballasts are connected round the correct way as the bulb will not light if the voltage is reversed?

Oh and BTW 110 in a 40 mate,,,,,,,,,,

Take it this part of the forum isnt for the speedoholics lol

But with the ballast i had you could only fit the wires one way anyways, quite impossible to get um mixed up cause the ends are completely different fittings.

Besides, i used the ballast with both bulbs and they worked fine.

I think we are all guilty of speeding but almost treble the limit is not quite what most of us would put down in a public forum matey

As for the connections a lot of the HID kits have two way connectors that fit both ways around (mine is the HID-direct kit) and when I first set it up I got the connector round the wrong way initially and had to re-trace the steps one I reversed the plug the lights worked.
