Default 18" Penta Alloys or 19" VXR Replica's

    Looking for some advice.

I have 18" Penta 5 spoke alloys on the Veccy which is lowered 35mm with Koni springs and the tyres are just about done.

Should I just go for 4 new 225/40/18 tyres something like Vredestein Sessento or Uniroyal Rainsport 2 both around £400 for 4

    or

Brand new 19" VXR replica alloys with 235/35/19 sunny tyres £660

    What do you think.
Do these wheel buckle easily and are the sunny tyres slippy and crap.

I think if you pay £400 for tyres you have more money than sense. £100 for a ring of rubber and wire!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess it depends how much you value your life and/ or car!

That £100 ring of rubber and wire is what stops you hitting stuff that isn't moving!

As for the first question, VXR replicas are on every Tom, Dick and Harry's car, Penta's are far less common, so half the coice is do you want to follow the crowd??

I'd keep the penta's but instead of fitting 225 40's fit 235 40's as they should look better (fill the arch better) and they are also pretty cheap. pretty sure they should fit the pentas although youd be better to research first

With winter coming I think it would be unwise to be switching to "Sunnys".

Under "normal legal" driving, is there much/any difference in tyre brands.... really..?

...and no "course there is" but I don't actually know for sure !!

I would say not, and have never had any hairy moments with any brand of tyre, I would suggest that if you have, then you were driving to fast for the conditions/road.

Dan you may be a Jason Plato fan but at least you do speak some sense

I have runway enduros fitted to my VXR 18 inch flakes and for 70 quid a corner they are excellent value for money
