Default Vectra vxr to 1.9 150 cdti brakes

    Hi

How hard would it be to do this? How much roughly would it cost?

    Thanks

if you can find calipers from scrappy then you'll probably pay about £100-120 for calipers and carriers for front - you're looking at £400 plus from Vx

    similar for the back too......

you'll need to make sure the calipers will fit under you're wheels

17inch sri may not get the clearance

so you might then need bigger wheels?

I think the police use vxr brakes on 17inch but i think they are pre-facelift sri wheels..correct me if i'm wrong

then youll need disc/ pad sets about £70 each front and rear.

and you'll need to cut / replace / remove dust shield

so all in all it can be done for about £350 before fitting....

    why don't you try 314mm / 292mm off a V6 .......

314mm set up is much cheaper and will get just as good performance from them. (undet normal conditions)

    just looked at you're avatar

    so guess you're on 19inch

    in which case

you could also try neo brothers who do a 4 pot setup - they're on ebay

and courtenay's also do very nice setups - if you have 2K to burn then you could have a race setup.....

    cheers

    Vehicle : Facelift Insignia/Corsa D

    Trim : LE/VXR

    Engine : 2.0 cdti/1.6 Turbo

    Year : 13/07

    Default

With great difficulty lol, LMF used to sell the kit's but they've been out of stock for well over a year. The 314's were fitted to the V6 cars (the later GSi's and all V6 CDTi's) they were also fitted to the non VXR 2.8v6 turbos

It all depends how much your willing to spend tbh

Also worth noting that the 314's use the same callipers if at a later date you wanted the 345 vxr's.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

and for the rear 292's you only need the carriers/discs as the calipers will accept the bigger discs

Not exactly. They are virtually identical but with subtle differences, and they aren't a direct replacement. It HAS been done once, but the VXR pads needed modification to fit properly. Also, the VXR carriers were special order from Germany at the time, and quite expensive considering they're jsut a milled piece of metal...

    This is the comparison thread:

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...rriers+germany

...which details the replacement in the later pages plus the costs of the carriers.

Not exactly mate. The calipers ARE different numbers to accept the wider vented discs, and the VXR handbrake setup is different, although it's a straight bolt-on replacement for the standard 292mm caliper. I'm not sure if anyone's ever tried fitting the vented discs to the smaller caliper, but I'd have thought buying the setup as a while would probably be cheaper. I stand to be corrected if I'm talking rubbish...

Also, bare in mind there is NO disc and pad KIT for the 345 VXR front setup. You buy them seperately at a total cost of about 400 squid...

    ouch!!!

vxr seems very expensive for what it is

hence neo brothers or courtenays as a suggestion

for 314 /292 best bet is to scour your local breakers yards for a 2004/05 v6. thats where i got mine.

    cheers
