Interior switch lights

Strange one this, being testing the various DRL settings in Tech 2. There are four settings in total, now on the 4th setting nothing apperared to happen, hence I then disabled the DRL again. When I turned the ignition off the headlights came on and I was unable to switch them off, after going through alll the settings again I eventually ended up disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and everything worked has it should again. Now I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me but if somebody can check this it would be great, when I switch on the ignition and headlights are switched off I was sure that all the interior panel lights, steering wheel controls, electric window switches also illuminated but now they only illuminate if the external lights are switched on is this correct or should they be lit as soon as the ignition is switched on?

All dashboard lights in my 54 reg vec come on, steering wheel etc when I put the key in but they go out again when I start the car unless the headlights are on, in which case dashboard lights etc stay on.

If you activate DRL then they all will light up.. other wise they are off.

Don't know if I'm just going mad, I was sure that before I started messing , err I mean testing the DRL settings that when the ignition was on and lights were off that the window switches illuminated all the time.

nope, only when sidelights are switched on.... Had the exact same problem when I was testing the DRL settings too.... Had to disconnect the battery after resetting the DRL back to off again...

My interior lights and dash comes on when i open the car door after unlocking and then go off if i don't put the key in the ignition. then after inserting the key they come on again
