Default How To Check Throttle Position Sensor???

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to check the connection and wiring on the throttle position sensor on the accelerator pedal?

I think this may be contributing to a problem I have.

    Thanks.

If you know someone with Tech2 then you could record some data from a drive. Or you buy a gauge, there are a few on the market not too expensive, I have a scanguage (see ebay) it plugs into the diagnosic plug (under the ashtray) and gives real time output from a number of sensors including throttle position.

BTW the scanguage is EOBD compatible so won't work on the old 2.0 & 2.2 diesels.

Thanks. I have a 54 plate 1.9 CDTi 150 and am keen to check this. The car is due a service (getting done a week on Monday) and, fingers crossed, that will solve the problem but I have read about other users with exactly the same symptoms as mine and they have checked the TPS.

The car had a really bad episode of power loss this morning (I had to pull over twice, turn the car off and re-start it). After the second re-start, it was a little jerky then it was ok for the rest of the journey in to work. The other morning, I used cruise control for most of my journey and the problem didn't occur which is making me think it may be related to the TPS on the accelerator.
