    Default Estate Rear Bumper.

All, I am about to fit some rear parking sensors to my 56 Reg facelift XP / SRi estate.

I know that on the estate the OEM sensors are fitted into the lower trim / valence that is connected to the rear bumper, but I would like to fit the sensors slightly higher up in the bumper itself.

So guys, which is the easiest way to remove the rear bumper / valence on the estate, also is there enough room in between the steel crossmember that sits behind the bumper and the inside of the bumper to allow the sensors to be fitted in this position ?.

Also, does anyone have the correct position measurments of parking sensors when fitted into a standard Vectra hatchback rear bumper ?,

Your help / advice on this would be much appreciated,

    Regards,
    Saxman.

    Hi

I fixed mine on the lower valance to the pre marked locations. They work 100% and Vauxhall must have put the marks there for a reason. Why do you want to put them higher any particular reason?

I know Vauxhall put the marks there, but I'm not fitting an OEM Vauxhall kit.
The lower trim is something like 12-15 degrees upward off vertical and is only 390mm from the floor.

I thought that most (Aftermarket) sensors are recommended to be fitted nearer 450-500mm from the floor, also I dont want the sensor heads to be facing upward by that amount of angle as surely this would somewhat defeat the idea of the sensor beam projecting outward directly behind the vehicle would it not ?

I dont know, but I would imagine that the OEM Vauxhall sensors when fitted to an estate have some sort of adjuster ring fitted to bring the sensor head back to something like vertical.

Does anyone have a close up picture of OEM rear parking sensors fitted onto an estate ?

Mine were the £15 CISBO sensors from eBay and they worked perfect mounted on the lower valance and they don't have the angled mounts that come with it. I had the same doubts but my concerns never came to fruition.

If you order aftermarket you must tell them they
are for estate these have additional adjustable spacer
rings that are approx 12-15 degrees angle on them.
Most estates need these as they nearly all have low
floor heights which mean most sensors have to be fitted
lower than normal. Think you could be short of space
between crash bar and bumper at the height you plan to fit
    Them st.

I fitted an e-bay set in my old sri. Yes they were lower than the kit recommended, but i think the slight upwards angle compensated for it & they worked fine. I think they would look very odd in the upper part.

Hi guys. Thinking of adding parking sensors to my estate.

Is the rear valance marked for sensors?

What colour is the valance, so I can get a colour match on the sensors.

Have seen these, they have quite a few colour choices, not sure which to pick:

Oh and this kit comes with spacers to adjust the angle, so should be OK?
