Default Power steering problem, already!!! Had the thing less than 24 ****** hours!

Hi all, my sri 2.2 diesel has something wrong with the power steering, it works, well kinda, turns freely then gets hard, like it's intermitantly working, it's fine when you get the thing moving but feels wierd when stationary.

Any ideas? Trying the check the fluid, but it's a cow to get to the reservior, but then thinking VX probably put it there cause it's a sealed unit, or maybe leaking?

Any help would be great lads!

It is an electric pump, not belt driven. I would check the fluid level. Take the bumper off, takes about 10 mins to get it off, it's not a sealed unit.

Do you get the warning light (Steering Wheel and Exclamation Mark)? If so could point to the power steering pump and should be checked out. Checking the fluid though is a good place to start.

If your not getting the light check that the Knuckle that connects the column to the rack hasn't colapsed. I had this on a fiesta many moons ago
