    Default oil and swirl valve

went to take off my EGR valve to give it a clean and found my swirl valve bar had come off and the area around the valves covered in grimmy oil. is it normal when the bar comes off for there to be this grime or am I looking at something more nasty than glueing the bar back on?

No wasy way m8 but it is new manifold time . You could try and put it back on but I don't recommend as you could end up knackering the drive module too adding more to the cost. This is because the valves will not be moving and all the oil and dirt form to 'jam' the valves solid. If you successfully re-attach the swirl rod it could cause the drive module more stress and possible failure.

Some run their engines without the swirl bar, but it's in the lap of the Gods as to what position the flaps have stuck in. It depends on where they have stuck as to how well the engine continues to run.

A crap design initially. New ones have no problems....unless you know otherwise!

    Default

At a vauxhall dealer for manifold and fitting your looking at 650 quid

Just the manifold part price is roughly 230-300 depends on where you buy
