Vectra C - 2002 - Electrics Cutting Out.

Hi,

Im new here, a friend of mine has a problem with his 1.8 2002 02 reg vectra, when he gets in the car in the morning to drive to work for example he will get so far then the electrics will totally trip out, the radio will stop working, wipers stop working, the indicators wont work, the headlights sometimes come on also the brake lights to, obviously this aint the safest thing to happen. On the dash board he does not get a ecu light that comes on or has any error codes stored in the ecu, he does get abs light and the battery light coming on. To get the electrics back he has to stop the car and turn the ignition off. After he has done this the car is fine for a while. We have checked the battery connectors and they seem fine and the battery has the green light on so we think that means the battery is still good??

Anyone got any advise or ideas?

Could be alternator or try cleaning the ABS plug and plugging it back in

ABS plug? I no he has just had a new wheel bearing and sensor on one side, it was doing this before that was replaced.

Ok, that says ecu on? just looked at that and the one behined it and they were both spotless, the car is very strange, just while we were checking it then it did it again, the whole speedo dies, everything drops to 0 the revs, speed and temp gauge.

I have attached a pic of the dash when it dies.....

Dirty ABS plug as said but with the extra problems over ABS plug symptoms I'd say CIM module I'm afraid mate.

WD40 ok on the abs plug? is the abs plus the one that says ecu on?

I would leave that one if you have any problems it will be with the abs one,not sure about wd40 best to pm rushy

Thats the one i have looked at and it looks really spotless? whats the cim?

The cim is a computer module around steering wheel it can cost £400-£500 to replace at steelers
