Default Avoid the new xbox 360 slim like the plague!!!

My bad day has just got even worse , we bought the new xbox 360 slim in july, we hardly ever use it and its just died

So much for fixing the problems - got to send it off to microsoft for repair

And to make things worse we ordered another one for our sons birthday a couple of days ago

    yeh

    xbox 360 most die

overheating with red circle of death

in the old one i followed the removal of x clamps and washers replacement technique

never gone wrong since - 2 years on - cheap and highly effective repair

some also fit a second fan set into roof of xbox to add cooling and airflow

this of course invalidates the warranty but is a lot cheaper than sending it to germany and back if out of warranty

My Fat PS3 died earlier this summer. so I bought another PS3 slim...

Then found a DIY Fat PS3 repair guide on YouTube... so repaired it myself and now I have two PS3's lol...

Only cost £20 to repair it myself...

So far we have sent 5 old xbox's to germany to be repaired ( we have a lot of kids - lol), so we looked at the new xbox and read all the cr@p about its all updated with new parts/doesnt overheat/red ring etc - what a load of bull. These new ones could double as a heater.

They did tell the truth about 1 thing though it didnt red ring it just died and wouldnt turn back on at all

We have just got off the phone with argos and after a bit of a heated argument with them they have decided to deliver a new one tomorrow and they will send it to germany themselves so at least a new one comes tomorrow

All consoles have problems due to heat build up after prolonged use.

You have one of the new xboxes? Bought it in July? Thought they were only just out????

we got ours the day it was released which was 16th july , i know the old ones had major problems with heat as all i ever seemed to hear is "dad my xbox has the red ring of death", thats the whole reason we went for the "updated xbox" which was supposed to have had all the heat issues resolved.

I wish - if anything these new ones run even hotter. The main thing that annoys me is the new one has hardly been used yet its dead and has to go back at 2 months old

Still got my First day Gen 1 Xbox 360. I've got it in a nice well ventilated area which I think has made it last so long.

Only downside... Sounds like a ****** lawn mower when the fans are going full tilt.
