Default Larger alloys on a 1.8

Just curious for those with the 1.8 engine, its a small engine for a big car even worse with a full load of people and luggage in as we all know if you've changed from 17" to 19" have you noticed a difference in acceleration being alot slower? I remember my old Astra was a 1.4 went from 15" to 18" and that made it feel real sluggish.

I have 18"'s on mine. You work the tyre size out so the diameter is no different. That way there is very little difference in acceleration....

The 1.8 is not small, it is 140bhp? More powerful than many people are driving about with in cars bigger than a Vectra. My Mondeo (significantly bigger, Vectra seems small in comparison) was only 115bhp. Many Passats are only 90 or 110 bhp etc. I had an Octavia which was only slightly smaller with 75bhp and it pulled ok.

My theory was a larger alloy equals more weight to turn?
