Default Calling you clever engineering types...advice needed

    Hi all,
Please help The peeps who live above me love using thier tumble dryer and it send a low pitched hum all through my flat

It must be some sort of weird frequency as it seems to wake me up and it travels all through my place.

They have tried putting doubled up carpet squares under the legs but it hasn't made a bit of difference.

I can turn my TV up and I can still hear it. What else can they try to stop the "buzzing"? they have two young children and with the weather turning this is going to be on all the time

    Cheers all

    Jon

You should be able to get some form of anti vibration (av) isolator (can't think of the name). Air conditioning units usually use them if on roofs.

You need to get cork tiles to isolate it but it also needs to be away from touching walls, and such as the vibrations can permeate so easily.

That sounds doable as its under a kitchen worktop so space is limited

    Keep them coming

as long as they are satisfied it is not a bearing fault teko pads are the answer should absorb vibration

    How old is the dryer?

Could be a bearing on the way out.

I'm not sure mate, I have a discussion on another forum and it seems the vibration of the motor could be tune with the resonance of the brickwork as the "buzz" travels all through my place

Looks like it's going to be a ****** to sort out
