Default EGR problem - need help please

My first post, and just want to say this forums been very useful in the past. If anyone can help with my problem it will be greatly appreciated.

    Problem History:

Approx 8 months ago i put redex in my fuel tank (Never again!)

About 2 weeks after, the Emission light came on intermittently while driving.

About 2 months after the EML light was on permanently.

After 3-4 months i started to get the EML light and also car going into LIMP MODE when going up hills or slowing down at junctions etc. Although LIMP mode would reset when i stopped and started the car.

I had a diagnostic run and found PO400 EGR VALVE FLOW MALFUNCTION. The old EGR valve was removed and cleaned (it was almost blocked with soot). Replaced old EGR but problem was the same. Then I purchased a brand new GM/OE EGR Valve and fitted that, cleared codes but the EML and limp mode came straight back on after seconds.

After a few more days of driving I got EML light on, then limp mode, then Spanner light - alternating in that order!

The car is now unsafe to drive as limp mode just kicks in at any time with no warning.

    diagnostics still show PO400 code.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    thanks guys,

is there anything else that could off blocked up with soot as my EGR was almost completely blocked when i replaced it?

Is it recommended to give it a good thrashing - or could i do more damage?

    update:
    checked codes and now got:
    control unit not programmed
    throttle sensor position malfunction

had ecu reprogrammed by stealers (took 6 attempts!) and codes cleared. after 1 mile the spanner light is back on but no limp mode anymore.

thanks for your ideas. i will try cleaning throttle body now as suggested on other threads.
