    Default Front brake pads

Evening everyone - what kind of mileage are people getting out of their front brake pads? My car (53 plate 2.0T SRi) has now done 41k on the originals and I'm thinking that they must be ready for changing anytime now.

Anyone know if my model has a wear sensor fitted and also how much are main dealers charging for fitting new pads roughly?

    Thanks

My Signum 2.0T has just had them changed (for the first time) at around 43K - discs and pads from the Vx kit.

All the Vecs have the wear sensor AFAIK - yours definitely will.

As above, it really is such an easy job - it's daft to pay a dealer to do them. Mark (GSi 3.2) did a good How 2 on doing it.

I got 50,000 out of mine on my 2.2dti Elite. I bought a 'front brake kit' which included a set of pads AND Discs for around £70 from Vauxhall and then fitted myself.

50k on mine too. The sensor had welded itself to the old pads so had to be replaced, which I did myself as it's less than a tenner and a piece of cake to do.

My sensor cable had come to bits also, when I found out it was £8 though (for a poxy bit of wire!) I taped it up ... well the new owners will service it before 50k miles are up (I Hope!)
