    Default Vectra replacement

Despite being a Vauxhall man for as long as I've been driving I am thinking of binning the Vec due to stupid warranty not covering my dual mass flywheel and because my swirl bar has now fallen off.

Main reason I got the Vec was the fact is a was I wanted a bigger, comfier car that was a nippy deisel and affordable. Now I've seen and experienced what happens with poorly designed diesel engines and the expense associated with fixing them I am looking at a replacement.
    Possible candidates are:

    Mazda 6
    VW Passat
    Subaru Legacy
    Honda Accord
    Audi A4
    BMW 3 Series

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the cars mentioned above and could maybe suggest some info such as major problems or some nicer parts to them. If anyone has owned any of the above I'd be interested in hearing your views.

I do love my Vectra but I am not spending £1500 fixing it when it is an 06 plate and barely worth 6k. I've spent £450 on Uniroyal Rainsport 2's and an edditional £230 getting MTEC discs, pads and having them fitted. I'd probably keep the rainsports and sell separately afterwards.

Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed.

Depending on the age you are looking at, the Legacy would be my second choice to the Vectra if almost new the a Mazda6 2.2D Sport or new shape Accord as second choice but after last winter the Scooby stands head and shoulders above the rest mate

My Vec is an 06 and I am looking as far up as 57 plates. Mazdas seem to be the cheapest at the moment.

They are but on a 57 its still the Mark1 which isn't half the car (IMHO) the Vectra is the diesel is a 134Hp 2.0 litre or 114Hp 2.0 a decent car just not great?

Toyota are having issues with the T180's in all their models, I have been behind quite a few where you cant see where you are going because of blue smoke!!!

Subaru legacy would be my 1st choice, then Honda or Passat as 2nd

We used to have 2 passats on lease. My dads went back with 110000miles on the clock and not one problem apart from wear and tear (brakes, tyres etc) Vw passats are quality motors and the 1.9tdi highline is a flying machine and very comfy.
