    Default HID Ballast Location

    Howdie,

I have just fitted the HID kit on my Vec C Facelift. Looking at the front of the car, the ballast on the right fitted nicely into the large are under the battery box lid.

However, i am struggling to find somewhere to mount the one on the left.

    Where have you fitted yours?

Any info would be appreciated please chaps.

I fitted mine onto the ecu under the airbox in the inner wing area. I struggled to see a neat location topside and as the inner wing has that large ECU I thought a great place for the ballast and canceller to go.

    Hope this helps

If you take the headlights out, there is a space built into the underside of the headlight that the ballast fits into perfectly. Can be stuck there and you won't see it

I used the double sided pad with my kit and stuck it onto the left hand side of the airbox, and the bonnet closes fine with it there too

Thanks chaps, Ill have a look at these places. I am not the most mechanical minded person, so removing bits from the car is not something i would normally do!

Does the front bumper need to come off to remove the headlight?

Yeah, bumper needs to come off to remove headlights. I have the normal size ballasts, not the slim ones, and there's plenty of room in the space under the headlight for them. They're out the way there and is the best place for them.

Thanks again, I like the idea of installing under the light cluster. Just need to get the courage to get the spanners out and take the bumper off!
