    Default Woodruff key

    HI

getting things in my head for inlet manifold replacement on 150 1.9 in next few weeks

TIS document seems lengthy but straightforward.

only one question for anyone else who might have done this....

it says do not reuse old woodruff key in fuel pump....

does that mean new woodruff key is needed or ? can fuel pump be reinstalled without it?

    cheers in advance

Sounds very much like you'd need a new one.

    Vehicle : vectra-c

I used the old one & Ive never heard of anyone else replacing it. mine has had a lengthy testing period, the one thing i will advise to do is pack the area under the pump 'well' with rags, there are gaps where the key could be lost & in-fact other people have!. replace with a dab of grease to keep it in place.

    Snap!
Vauxhall also state to replace the high pressure fuel pipe and many other parts including the manifold nuts(?).

Using this forum (including quotes from Vauxhall techs) only the fuel pump to pulley nut, manifold, gasket and actuator (debatable) are changed, everything else is reused including (EGR/throttle body) metal gaskets.

When I went to Vaux for parts the chap had a help card hand written with a short list of parts that they use when replacing the many duff manifolds they do (included the actuator). Far shorter than the full list in the TIS.

I only changed the four parts and have no problems for 3000 miles......

If I was to do it again I'd try reusing the actuator- quite a bit of effort though if it doesn't work to change it again ( I now have op-com and can move the actuator by the software, so I would plug the actuator and manifold in, operate it and make sure it travelled the full amount - then re-use if OK). Pierburg state the actuator can only be tested 10 times before it won't work - what a strange way to design a part!
