cdti smoke on start up

got a vectra 1.9 cdti only done 30k and it smokes really bad on start up and tick over is a bit lumpy apart from that it runs perfect does anybody know why it does this i cleaned the egr valve out about 2 weeks ago.

What colour is the smoke?

I have the same thing too and the smoke stinks od deisel. The car uses a hardly any oil and the coolant never moves, odd.

Unburnt fuel either a faulty injector or glow blug can cause this.

Have you got the mil light lit?

no light on but got a spanner on start up then goes out once started

its your glow plugs might only be 1 at fault but i would change all of them

i had this, turned out to be a loose glow plug connector, pushed it back on
