Default First Time Vec C owner. 2.2SRI.

    Hi all,

    Currently own a Vectra C 2.2SRI (Z22SE) 2003

Currently has an Air filter induction kit mod (not my doing) which i would like to revert back to original setup.

Would like to get some 17'' SRI alloys or 19'' Snowflakes at some point as mine has Vec B SRI alloys on (can only assume they were removed prior to sale to make a bit of cash)

Would also like to get a Front Splitter as this has been removed by a previous owner.

Just a quick thanks to those on this forum who unbeknown helped me to solve a problem I had with my vectra, Hopefully i can be of some help/ opinion in the future.

    Cheers, Ashley

    cheers,

Service history is good, All stamped to present. 67K mileage so im thinking of getting the Cam chain changed, quoted 280 quid for the works- this seem decent?

Does rattle for a second on cold startup, so Cam chain replacement seems needed? that and the mileage. read they could do up to 100k but im not convinced personally, seems a fair price to prolong the life of the car

Rattle on cold start up could be just the auxiliary belt, which would come from from far left (drivers side) and is a known problem.

£280 for a cam chain change is not exorbitant though IMO

    GET IT DONE ASAP..

A cam chain will rattle on startup when cold for a few secs...

At 67K I would be doing it now... Some say that they should be done every 40k and there are many many people reported that they have snapped sub 60k.

Is that price parts and labour... Only get the VX cam chain KIT... this includes all new cogs and runners and chain. Dont use a third party one..

Also get a Vx cam cover gasket and chain cover gasket.. The chain cover is a common leaking point.. I recommend a small bead of instant gasket both sides of the new gasket to seal it 100%

In the new VX kits - it will have the revised Oil jet and a revised tensioner which is a much better design..

    HTH
