    Default House Electrics

Can I remove power outlet points from the ring main and shorten the ring without needing to submit anything to council etc? I want to knock down an internal wall.

Also, is it OK to use some old colour wiring to move a socket? And hence 'claim' it was already there and no electrical wiring work done??? What's the chance of being caught out?
Ignore electrical safety etc as I am 'competant' (just not 'qualified' in electrical), it's just to avoid the process of submitting, for such a small amount of actual work.

    Cheers

I think you may find that new cable has the date on it now.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Yes, the old colours. Hence it would 'appear' to be legacy wiring.

If your using the old colour cable ie 2.5 red and black twin and earth the chances are that no one will ever know. You cant submit anything to your local council because the whole house will have to be tested by a registered part P electrician and the reports submitted to building control. Crack on but do it correctly.
