    Default insurance for the 2.8T

why is the vec vxr 3 groups higher than the 2.8T signum, when they use similar engines?

im 22 and thinking of buying either or, but 3 groups is going to make a big difference to my premium.

what are the guys my age paying and for what?? the vec or signum

    thanks

It not just on the the engine size, the VXR has all the bells and whistles on the outside. I would of thought for a 22 yr old you'll be looking anywhere between 2-3k per year. Try Chris knott approved ins. trader on here. I got a very good deal from them this year with about 14 mods added, I have a 2.0T signum 2006 55 plate

When I had my 2.8 Siggy I was 23 and paying just shy of £1k, but the same company wouldn't insure me on a VXR as it was "too powerful".

If your willing to comprimise a 2.0T will be much cheaper on the insurance as it's a low insurance group(12 or 13 IIRC). Had mine since I was 21 and I was below £1k for the first year now paying £690.

As said its about the desirablity. They look at Vxr versions as loud and sporty which makes them more likely to be nicked, and driven by ASBO children (apparently).

The non badged version is just a fast 'business mans car' which they would stereotype as munching up motorway miles I guess. I went for the 2.8 Signum with the Irmscher kit.. looks great

Do like that Arden blue though...
