Auto Headlight Sensitivity

I have an Elite, so auto lights as standard. The problem is it seems to be not calibrated very well. They're pretty much on all the time unless the light is very very bright, or it's in direct sunlight in the evening (like when it's low in the sky and dazzles you!) Is this a common problem ? is there a cure, a new sensor ? or cleaning the glass in between ? (I think it's behind the rear view mirror?)

Thinking about getting some HID's and wouldn't want them to be on 95% of the time as it is now. I know i could just do it the old fashioned way, but i like the auto light feature, and I'd prefer it to work properly!

The sensor is next to the auto wipers sensor (it's a little clear dot). Is it right up against the screen? It may have fallen down a bit into a shadowed area of the windscreen

Not sure on that! would be awesome if that's all it is

Am i right in thinking it's in the top center of the windscreen, behind the mirror ? i'll check it out tomorrow in the daylight.

Doh, I checked it, and it all appears to be the same as in the picture
