    Default Re-badging a Vectra

This may seem random to some of you but.....

On my drive to work there's a decent looking Black Vec parked at the side of the road just up from me. The guys forever messing with it and has blacked out the windows etc.

One day i got stuck behind the car letting someone come the other way and noticed it's badged up a a V6 Turbo. Then i noticed the single standard exhaust pipe poking out.

This set alarm bells ringing that it wasn't what he was pretending it was. So i checked it on DVLA vehicle enquiry and it comes back as a 1.8

I understand de-badging a car to make a sleeper, that's fair enough. But why the hell would you rebadge it to something with more power???? S'not like the badges are gonna add 100BHP

I would image they put the different badge on for the same reason people get something like an SRi and get body kit to make it look like a VXR. Because they want people to think it is faster than it is, or they would like the faster model but can't afford the price. IMHO, it is no more laughable than most car styling modifications.

There is a difference from making the exterior look more pleasing or sportier, to someone getting a 1.8 and putting a v6 badge on it, it's going down the same route as most 17 year olds put a turbo badge on a corsa/saxo!

Good luck to him, I say. There's a breed of idiot driver out there who if he sees a car in front of him on the motorway that he thinks has less power than his, then he has to bully them out of the way and get in front - even if the "slow" car is actually doing that speed because it's part of a long chain of slow moving traffic. Sticking a turbo badge on the back may fool some of these idiots into thinking it's a faster car than theirs. If I had a "slow" car I might be tempted to put such a badge on it as well, just for this very reason.
