    Default Smoke on hard acceleration

The car is getting new strut top mounts on Friday under warranty, but I notice and have had a friend point out to me that under hard acceleration I have quite a bit of smoke this clears quick enough and lasts only 1 or 2 seconds at most.

I plan to ask the garage but can anyone tell me roughly what is the source?

Check for usual stuff. Air leaks anywhere? Check tightness of clips on intercooler etc. Check for perished hoses. Clean boost sensor. Clean EGR valve. Check tur....no it should be fine.

    Cheer's DD,,,

I have the Crankcase vent bypassed to atmos
Cleaned out the throttle body (mechanism was bone dry)
Cleaned flutes of the inlet mouth where the egr merges it was almost blocked by sludge and carbon so fully opened it all up.
Cleaned boost sensor (it was dirty but not blocked)
Removed egr cleaned passages and checked piston movement

    Oil changed 5K ago
    Airfilter 4K

Running on Jet regular diseasel no additives currently
No smoke at idle so believe Turbo fine

I have the car going in to Vx Friday and if it had been something expensive I would mention it but as I have a modified Crancase vent, I don't want to cause myself problems I later regret,,,,

It sounds as if it is more a symptom of gentle cruising followed by a hard blast while running on poor quality cough medicine derived fuel.

Could be burning oil if its like a few puffs?

I got my other half to watch my exhaust when i rev'd up to about 4k RPM in 3rd and few little puffs came out apparently. According to VX, the VX mechanic said, apart from the fact my engine is thirsty, (2.2 Direct petrol) its acceptable for an engine to loose a litre of oil for every 1000miles travelled.

Apart from laughing who was i to argue, i aint no mechanic but i always carry oil in the boot and check it regularly just to make sure.

VX's are renound for burning oil, had it all through my 4 cavaliers, got it on my vec and bloke opposite has it on his omega.

Check colour that might help narrow it down, White smoke, i would cry as that could mean head gasket but i wouldve thought this would be more of a constant, minor black/blue puffs i would say its just burning a little oil.

Depending on how you check your oil as well to make sure to get definate true read of whats in your engine as i never check mine cold. Always get engine up to temp and leave for 5 mins after turning ignition off.

Check dipstick and add oil accordingly if need be.

    Hope it helps =)
