Help WITH GID Display

Hello I had a GID display paired to the car today but could someone tell what info that I should get with the screen the car is 07 Sri which had a cd30 and TID screen. Why I am asking is that scroll wheel on the steering wheel does not go through the menu's like the old screen did like range, trip, fuel comp, does it make a difference if you got a aftermarket head unit. I don' t think that they programmed it to do the same as my old screen only paired it to the car.
