    Default Calling All GSi Owners.

Could you take a look at this pic and tell me if it's missing a black plastic cover over the top of the aux belt, similar to the one that covers the cam belt?

If I am, could you take a pic of yours & post it here please? Obviously, it's less visible with the standard airbox in situ so you not not be able to get a pic.

The reason I'm asking is I've just had the cam belt & water pump changed and I'm 99% sure there was a cover over the top of the aux belt, the place I took it to insist there wasn't one.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Nope... even with the standard airbox there appears to be no cover

Agreed, I don't have one either.

I've dropped enough stuff down there to remember there is no cover

Yeah, from your 1st pic, Andy, it'd be just below the top line of the airbox, so out of sight. Your second photo looks just like mine though, ie. no cover, so maybe senility is setting in, I have just hit 40!

Funny thing is, when my son came home from college earlier, I popped the bonnet & asked if there was anything missing, he said "yeah, a big plastic cover over the aux belt". Senility must be contagious, or madness just runs in the family!

Looks like I owe the chaps at the garage an apology tomorrow, who did an excellent job of the belt, tensioners, water pump & oil level switch for £363. They kept me informed all the way & were very courteous, and dug around in their bins when I asked for the old parts back (which looked like they would have gone on for another six years, oh well).
