    Default 1.9 CDTI 150 - Smoking/Sounding abit pants

    Im having some trouble,

    Its a 56 Vec C 150 CDTI, done about 126k, fully serviced.

Only recently, once its warm and ive done a few miles in it, Ill have spells where lots of smoke will pile out from under the car toward the front, which let me to beleieve that the exhaust has gone, because it can sound abit 'blowy' at times, but other times it will run fine.

Im not sure if this is pointing toward the EGR valve which is a common fault, but Im not really loosing any power when It has these spells. Might feel a little lumpy now and again but nothing major.

Iv had it looked over quick at a local garage and he couldnt find anything wrong with it right away, but then again, it wasnt showing symptoms when I took it round there (typical!)

Anyone have any idea of where its going wrong?

Sounds like the DPF (diesel particulate filter) is regenerating and leaking in some way (or burning off oil that has leaked onto it).
I'd get it on a ramp and do a manual regeneration to see what is causing the smoke. (manual regen by using op-com or tech2).

Check the flex pipe on both the exhaust and on the exhaust manifold where it leads to the egr cooler (right hand side of manifold, held on with two bolts) Both theses have been known to split.

I had to change my flex pipe on my 1.9cdti 8v smoke was coming from the front.

    Steve

Get the car on the ramps with the car running put your hand next to the flex pipe you will feel the air coming out if it has split.
