    Default V6 Tyre Size

I have a V6CDTi Est and am looking to get a set of Kumho's which seem decent enough for a reasonable cost. The original tyres are 215/50/17 95W(Nct's).

I can purchase a straight swap size wise for £90 a corner or buy 225/45/17 94Y XL at £70 a corner.

Will the different size alter anything and would it be legal regarding the insurance?

Your speedo will slightly read faster than it currently does. Not really an issue. Better to over read than under read anyway.

The alternate tyre size (225/45/17) is mentioned in the handbook, so no laws broken - providing you fit the same sized tyres on the same axle.

Are they good tyres? When my Sunews need changing, I shall be in the market. The Sunews are remarkably good for £52.50/corner! But being budget tyres, they have their limitations - namely when it rains! But they are wearing really well, are nice and quite and even look good!

Anyway, I am watching this with interest.

£68 does include fitting at my local tyre shop

Just went on to Etyres and they want £90 for the 225/45 17 XL Kumhos

I should have said that the £52.50 was a fitted price, IIRC. But would I recommend Sunews? Only with caveats about wet performance.

Have had the Khumo's on for about 1500 miles and I must say I am very impressed all round. Great tyre imho.
