Default Have i got an ok deal?

    Hi Folks

I finally got some cleaning gear together for "cleaning" the car and now i have a couple of questions.

The products i got was in a kit format from halfords, link is below

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...Id_165671#dtab

What i want to know is:-

1, will i be ok to just wash my car with the shampoo and sponge etc and then polish using the polish and a machine polisher? I havent clayed the car as i havent bought clay yet (will be on my list to get eventually!).

2, the glass cleaner, is it good? I have a bit of a problem with the insides of my windows, they seem to have a horrid film on them that vinegar and water did not shift, i was using a shammy and that to wash and newspaper to wipe off/buff, but it wasnt coming clean very well at all, so i thought i should get some proper stuff to sort it out.

The kit had the three things in i wanted to try so bought it since i was there Have i got myself a decent enough deal and will the products deliver on what i want to achieve?

and hints and tips for the inside of the windows will be greatly appreciated too

    Thanks
    Tony

tony the bits you got are good if a bit over priced . i would get yourself a wash mitt they have some in a asda only 2pounds and much better than a sponge .the glass cleaner is very good .you can clay the car another time and it will make the polishing and washing even easier . you should see a nice improvement after you have used them .. khalid

Yea, the AG SRP will give a nice shine and its excellent and covering some marks but it will only last a few weeks. Even something old school like Simoniz Wax gives great protection and when it rains you'll have beading for weeks.

Is the film on the windows sticky?

    Hi Folks

    Thanks for the replies.

In response to the question about the film, no its not sticky, seems oily, its not totally visible all the time, but my car does mist up and its "dirty" when i squeegy the condensation off. trying to clean it was really hard, i would get a clean line where i had rubbed for a bit, but when i changed direction i ended up just smearing from the uncleaned place over my cleaned place (highly annoying let me tell you haha) my shoulders were burning from trying to scrub so hard

Regarding sealing, i dont have anything other than the 3 pieces which came with the set i linked, that was the shampoo, the glass cleaner and the super resin polish. Do i need to get something else too?

Also, will i be ok putting said super resin polish on with a machine polisher?

    Thanks
    Tony

SRP is a superb product but it is a very light sealent. If you add this on top:

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165527

that will give all the hard work the protection it deserves. It's an excellent Sealent but read the instructions before using it to get the curing time right.

Back to SRP. Spritz the polishing pad with Quik Detailer (or water) before adding the polish. This means you apply a thinner layer and don't end up with the dust associated with putting too much on.

Don't discount the claying stage next time though. It will mean an even better finish after using the SRP.

SRP is fine with a machine polisher too.

edit: I knew I'd bookmarked this somewhere.

Thanks very much for the further comments and links to products and advice

    Makes for interesting reading

am sceptical about using the machine polisher, however, i know it will give the best results, will just take it easy

    Thanks again
