    Default Belt dressing qusetion

yesterday I saw some HYCOTE BELT SLIP in a local spares shop, so gave my belt a little squirt, It seems to have stoped the little squeal I had when first under load in a morning, NOW I have been told I should NOT have used this type of stuff on my Z18XE belt, your thoughts please.

I have heard of belts doing starship mileage after been treated with that dressing, What they will tell you is to replace the belt it depends on price if under a tenner i would pop a new one on but like a timing belt if the belt is low mileage you could spray it and see.

As it only powers the AC and the alternator, then I wouldn't worry about it anyway.

Mine is still on original belt at 150,000 miles. I have no plan to change it.

the only people telling you not to treat it and replace it would be the garage ... so you can line their pockets with your hard earned coffers

i agree as its a auxillary belt treat it - timing belts are another issue
