Default Warning light (car with spanner)

    Good evening people
We are travelling down the m6 toll and this warnimg light has come on!
The car seems to be in limp mode, we can get to 80mph, eventually, and sit there comfortably. We still got 140 miles til we get home
Any ideas wot could b causing this?
    Thanks
    Its a 2002 2.0dti by the way

Were you acclerating in 5th gear at low-revs? This will cause limp home mode if vacumm pipes are split. They are prone to split at the rubber connector ends but you can get nicks in the actualy harder plastic pipe espcially if the engine cover rubs against them. They are easily replaced with silicone pipes for about £6 off ebay. Heres a thread Istarted with pics when I replaced mine:

Also check the intercooler pipes. Theses run from the turbo across the top of the engine then disapear down to the inter cooler on the left then back up on the right hand side then into the inlet manifold. The pipes on the left and the right are prone to split on the 2.0 and 2.2dti engines because vauxhall used crap materials. At vauxhall they dont sell the individual pipes. They sell all of the pipes for about £120. Again silicone replacements are available on the internet for about £60 per hose. I replaced my left pipe a few months ago for £60 then a few weeks ago the right pipe went. I ended up making my own pipe as I didnt want to spend another £60. Made mine for about £30. Heres the thread I started with pics: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116528

Cleaning the boost sensor is really easy. Its just held in with one Torx bolt. Clean it with some carb cleaner or WD40 with a toothbrush or similar. Be gentle. Its sensitive. You'll know when its clean when you see the yellow of the sensor.

Cleaning the EGR valve is a slighlty bigger job but if you know how to use a spanner you'll be fine. I reccomend carb cleaner and a rag and toothbrush. It took me about 2hours to get the EGR off, give it a good clean and then put it back together again.

Here is a pic of my engine bay with theses areas circled. Check them first. Failing that get the codes read and let us know what they are.
