Default Buying help and advice please...

    Hi everyone!

Looking at getting myself a vec c estate for practical reasons.
Any issues that keep coming up, any recalls.

I keep reading about dual mass fly wheel giving up??
Also what about the swirl pot valve??

    Looking at the cdti 150.

What the top two models? Elite then Sri?

    Thanks

    Dog

Dmf and swirl valves are common issues and also egr valve. I found all this out after buying my estate but I don't think I would of changed my mind tbh. Very happy with the car and all seems fine at the moment, touch wood.....but now I've said that!

Best thing to do is have a good look round the forum for issues etc, very helpful posts and helpful members.

I opted for a 150 SRI NAV XP and very happy with, obviously Elite is the top spec and has all toys etc but is set up different to the SRI.

One thing to consider is what kind of motoring you will be doing. If it's mainly short runs and stop start driving, then a diesel is not a good choice. You would be better with a petrol. The estate itself is a cracking car, handles well for a big bus and has loads of room.

why no good for short start/stop journeys??

ive got 2 thirsty petrols and was wanting a diesel for mpg`s, to and from work (12 mile round trip per day) and days out in me canoe/kayak.

so and estate is ideal for that. tbf ive nearly understood estate as ive always had a hatch but this WILL be an estate.

my hatch sri 150 does around 320 miles to £30 and thats mostly local so i think that is good where as my modded civic type r will do 185 miles to £30 so i know which is economical and which one is a performance thing lol. good luck

Those problems I mentioned above are found on the facelft yes. With regards detecting faults etc I'm not too sure but if you do a search the information is here as EGRs are a common issue.
