    Default egr blanking

just thought id chuck this question at you lot,
can someone pls explain the idea of semi blanking a egr valve on a cdti, the reason i ask is we all no when our valves need a clean up ,ie power drops away ,gota put foot down a little harder to get same grunt.
once valves cleaned and the full bore size of the valve is as intended power is restored, heres my question isnt restricting the airflow with the gasket the same as having a clogged valve,i fitted the restricting gasket to my car over 2 weeks ago and to be honest im less than impressed, comments welcome

The EGR valve is in the closed position on tickover and opens up gradually to 2000 revs then closes again. It stays closed for the rest of the rev range above 2000.The idea of partially restricting the valve,is that you drill a 10/12mm hole in the blanking plate to allow enough exhaust gas through to keep the eml off.
The blanking plate acts like the valve is when it is in the closed position so if you have blanked it off and you are experiencing poor performance after blanking,I would look at some other causes i.e.is the blanking plate gasket sealed properly,or vacuum pipes etc,etc.FELIXX.

Forgot to add.The Fiat gasket is designed to disrupt the flow of gasses inside the valve.I am led to believe that because of the design of the holes in the gasket,it somehow disrupts the flow and creates a swirl effect which,in turn,is supposed to discourage the depositing of soot in the valve.FELIXX.

    hi felix,cheers for comment,
i understand the idea of blanking th valve off to minimise the crap going back through the induction cycle,my question is can anyone honestly say there car feels better for the valve being restricted,
when my valve needs cleaning i sorta no coz the power becomes smoother and less harsh, once cleaned here comes the torque steer again, valve restricted back to smooth power again,so surely it has a slight downside on low down grunt
