Default Vectra C direct 2.2i fuel pump failure

Are Vauhall motors not responsible for the supply and fitting of failed fuel pumps under the current consumer legislation. My car at 3 and a half years old is is now not "fit for purpose" due to failure of a safety critical part. In my case the engine just stopped when driving endangering myself and my passengers whilst driving in heavy traffic.

If you ran out of fuel, would you blame the petrol station?

    Hi mate

I had the faulty fuel pump on my 2.2direct too, vx recalled the car and changed the fuel reg but would not put their hands up about the faulty fuel pump, i argued till i was blue in the face and they will not changed the HP fuel pumps unless your car is under warranty with them.

I got hold of a brand new genuine vx fuel pump with 12months warranty off of ebay for £300 and took me less than 10mins to fit myself, some people think thats alot of money but it beats vx price of £550 just for the pump and thats without fitting costs.

You could always try repairing it yourself - see the info in the how2 area.
