    Default Reverse sensor wiring.

I know there is a few guys on here fitted there own sensors... so... Iím wondering did you guys fit a bypass relay on the reverse light.

If you didnít what effect has it had on the bulb failure function?... does it still work?
Maybe its something you lot have totally overlooked/ donít care about, but Iíd like to have the bulb out feature still working.

I've just got myself a cobra reverse parking kit, and Iím unsure if I should fit the relay or not.

    help appreciated.

After my rear end smack, one of the things that needed replaced was the Vx (Bosch) aftermarket kit as a couple of the sensors had been damaged. My dealer had stopped using the Vx (Bosch) kit as they were getting a few back with problems - they went with Cobra instead and that's what's fitted in mine now.

When I first got the car back after having the Cobra lkitted, one thing noticed straightaway was that they hadn't quite wired it properly. The system would activate if I used the 'light your way home' feature as the reversing lights came on. They fixed it so that it doesn't do that now and I noticed a couple of little gizmos had been added to the wiring near the light cluster. I'm guessing these were bypass relays. I can confirm on Monday if that's indeed what they are - and also I can check if the bulb out feature still works once I get my car back next week from the front end smack repairs!

i forgot all about the "light your way home" feature! i dont think a bypass relay would fix this... i'm stumped how they stopped the sensors working with "light your way home" activated, unless they run a feed direct from the the gearbox switch.... but that seems like a lot of work.

to stop sensors working with the "light your way home" use ignition live feed like in diagram below:

"light your way home" only works when ignition is off, therefore if the sensors only work with ignition on then they wont interfere with each others function.

however... the bulb faliure detection may/still may not work due to the live been directly connected to the reverse light.
if this does cause a poblem on the vectra, the a bypass relay could be used to fix both the "light your way home" function & bulb faliure function.

i'll post up diagram on bypass relay setup... (even simpler!)

Cheers Mick. I'll check what was actually done to mine and whether it still works with the bulb failure.

    Hi there,
I've just picked up a 56 Elite this week, and it went in on friday to have rear parking sensors fitted. They are in and working, but the speaker makes a fairly regular "click" noise. it does this from the moment you unlock, all the time you are driving, and continues for about five minutes after you switch off ignition. i am guessing it's the bulb check function interfering. The control box for the sensors is fitted in the flip on the right hand side of the boot, with power coming from the multiplug going to the light cluster. if i disconnect the multiplug the clicking continues but is much louder. should the dealer have fitted something else to prevent this, or am i on my own to sort it?

On your own!!!.. Far flippin from it..

sounds like a shoddy install.. it shouldn't behave like that..Take it back to the dealer and ask them to sort it out properly..
