Default cdti 150 temp gauge sits at 70 most of the time?

Is it normal for the temp gauge to sit at 70 on my cdti 150 most of the time guys??
It rarely budges of the bottom unless i boot it for a while.
Every other vauxhall ive owned always sits around the middle ( 90) but mine never gets there.
Heaters get warm but not all that. Been starting to think she has no termostate or something.. Just wondered if its a diesel thing

    Cheers rich

Mine seems to take a while...4-5miles to move...heater though does get hot and usually sits around 85..ish dependant on stop-start etc..
On the motorway usuall just under 85...

temp should reach around 85 degrees after approx 5miles of driving. If its sitting around 70 most of the time, then it is the thermostat, quite a common fail item on 1.9 cdti's.

right hand side of the engine, as you stand in front of it, under the vac pump. Kinda tricky to get too, but diy replaceable.

One of the first things I noticed was a lot longer warm up time, mine's usually steady at 85 degrees.

The Thermostat on the 150 is actually EASY to do. My main dealer charged me just over 50 quid for a new one and 2l of Antifreeze concentrate.

Remove the battery, air hose and you have plain sight of the thermostat. remove the plastic screw up front when filling the system to let the air out.
If you can , park nose up to prevent air getting trapped in the heater matrix.
All in took less then an hour to do.

Theres a new type thermostat housing now, when I went in to vauxhall for a new stat I ended up with a complete new modified housing including the stat. Easier enough to change and def made a difference.

Default is my temperature gauge and slight misfire related

I wonder if anyone on here can advise me, ive recently just bought a 54 plate vectra 1.9cdti 150, when i took it for a test drive temperature gauge wasnt working. The dealer had this checked by vauxhall who replaced the thermostat. the temperature sits arond 80 to 85 around town, however when i go on long journeys the temperature gauge fluctuatesbetween 0 - 80 quite frequently. When ive been parked up in service stations i can hear the cooling fan kick in and this causes the engine service light to come on.
Whilst on the motorway i can also feel a slight misfire, could all this be related and do you think i have a faulty thermostat.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
