    Default brake help please

    right trying to replace my discs and i have managed to get pads and every thing elso off but having problems removing two caliper carrier mounting bolts they wont move at all any advice please

    Try putting a long tube or spanner on the end of the allen key - should give you a bit more leverage

    no it not them ones mate got them out fine its the other ones that hold the caliper carrier on that needs a e20 star socket

    Ah ok - Try putting a long tube or spanner on the end of the Rachet - should give you a bit more leverage

    They need a huge amount of torque to undo them - you need to put something like a 4 foot long pole over the handle of your ratchet, and make sure you E20 socket is the half inch size, not the smaller one with an adaptor, as the adaptor will snap with the force you put through it. Make sure you've turned the steering wheel so that the caliper is pointing outwards, not tucked under the steering wheel, otherwise you won't be able to fit the extension bar to the ratchet.

    I cheated personally I used a 15" breaker bar and the cars own scissor jack to provide the muscle! worked a treat too

    thanks for the advice guys managed to remove them bolts on the front now just need to do the rears tommorow fingers crossed i dont have same problems all this effort to put drilled and groved discs on lol

    Dont forget you need a brake rewind tool or pair of longnose pliers to do the back

    The rears don't need quite so much force, you'll need an E18 rather than an E20 though.
