Default Thinking of colour coding V on the grill

hi, i have seen a few pics on here where people have colour coded the chrome V on the front grill and think it works really well, can anyone give me tips on what i have to do. I'm confident of spraying but do i have to rub it down first to get a key ??????

I think the colour coding the v grille looks so much better

I would use wire wool to key the "v" then use plastic primare then flat down with very fine wet & dry 1200 should be ok then the colour and to finish it off with a coat of laquer hth
